We are looking for an Application Sales Specialist/Engineer to join our team in the Calgary, Alberta area. This role is essential in providing customized technical solutions and support to clients in commercial and industrial sectors. You'll work closely with our sales and engineering teams, contributing to impactful projects and build and maintain lasting client relationships.
Responsibilities
Customer Engagement & Collaboration
- Respond to customer inquiries to determine the full scope of client needs, including product solutions, pricing, and potential delivery dates.
- Collaborate with external sales teams and commissioned representatives to:
- Provide comprehensive quotation support for Thermon products.
- Identify and develop opportunities for external sales management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, engineers, and contractors.
Quotation Preparation & Tender Analysis
- Prepare accurate electrical/EHT quotations based on sketches, specifications, and available information.
- Analyze tender documents and contractual obligations, preparing detailed quotation letters for client approval and submission before deadlines.
- Obtain client feedback on quotations and contribute to pre-planning meetings for project alignment.
Estimation & Data Management
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials and labor required for tendered projects, including gathering supplier and trade quotes.
- Input, review, and confirm estimate information in computer programs, analyzing strengths and weaknesses before submission.
- Develop and evaluate closing strategies to ensure competitive and accurate proposals.
Technical Review & Feedback
- Review engineered drawing packages and provide technical feedback as needed to optimize project outcomes.

Experience and Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician with relevant industry experience or a bachelor's degree in a technical field.
- Hands-on experience in medium to large-scale electrical construction projects, including knowledge of electrical and building codes.
- 3+ years' experience as an estimator for electrical construction preferred.
- 3+ years hands on experience with electrical construction projects in a leadership role is preferred.
- Familiarity with tender rules and processes; electrical heat trace knowledge is a plus.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., CompuTrace) and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook and Excel).
- Industry experience with Thermon EHT Controls (e.g., TCM, TNG (Genesis)) is a valuable asset.
