Overview

We are seeking a technically talented professional who can align internal teams with external forces. A great opportunity to grow with Thermon. You will collaborate as a key member of the team supporting our operations to meet challenging project budgets and schedule targets for manufacturing projects.

The Manufacturing Engineer at Thermon is a self-starter who works toward safety and effectively design, develop, and implement an overall strategic plan. Performs engineering work related to designing and developing of equipment and processes to support the manufacturing of Thermon's products while supporting the lean initiatives of the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include

  • Lead efforts to develop new process technology to support manufacturing of existing products and implementing new product designs into production.
  • Be accountable for and own detailed execution processes behind manufacturing orders/projects with the support of our operations team
  • Complete special project/tasks and duties as assigned associated with product and equipment design and testing.
  • Responsible for being the main support for implementing new equipment and supporting maintenance in debugging and troubleshooting of current equipment.
  • Responsible for identifying, budgeting, justifying, purchasing, installing and commissioning Capital Projects.
  • Identify and address safety and environmental issues in the plant.
  • Own in continuous improvement initiatives with other teammates across our operations to drive optimal organizational processes
  • Prioritize own work to meet required schedules and product release deadlines.
  • Support lean activities that may include working towards six-sigma initiatives.
  • Support the improvement of production KPIs: OTD, First pass yield, NCR pareto, Shop efficiency
  • Provide technical support to drafting on product and manufacturing routers.
  • Write and update standard operating procedures for operational processes
  • Design tools and equipment
  • Provide training for production personnel on manufacturing processes
  • Develop production drawings and routings based on engineering documentation
  • Process Returned Material Requests
  • Create programs for CNC equipment based on engineering drawings

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) with 4 years relevant experience
  • Strong Project Management experience: excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Self-Motivated, willing to learn.
  • Expert level in Microsoft Office suite of tools
  • Extensive knowledge of production principles and techniques.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software (SolidWorks & AutoCAD).
  • Strong technical and analytical background


Key Characteristics, Competencies and Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and comfortable with directing and evaluating tasks/activities to supporting team members
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess problems or issues with manufacturing equipment.
  • Practical knowledge and use of scheduling tools such as MS Project
  • Experience in manufacturing, electrical or automation industry
  • Experience supporting a high mix medium volume manufacturing or job-shop organization
  • Proficiency in presenting information to management and customers
  • Drive to understand how things work
  • Meeting expectations in a fast past environment and ability to exceed under pressure
