JOB SUMMARY

The Task Force Sales Manager travels to assigned hotels within the Lodging Dynamics portfolio and fills in for open Sales Manager positions and/or provides additional sales support as needed. This position completes sales functions of the assigned hotel including proactive sales activities towards revenue goals while managing new and existing client relationships. The Task Force Sales Manager is responsible for overall account management, business generation, and sales prospecting for their assigned hotel. This experienced sales manager role is ideal for someone who loves traveling and is familiar with various hotel chain scales and markets.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Seamlessly fills in for open Sales positions at assigned hotel and sells the required group segments.
    • Establishes and maintains a client base of organizations, associations, social groups, and corporate businesses through direct outside and inside sales, in order to secure business for the assigned hotel.
    • Ensures that predetermined sales expectations are met or exceeded.
    • Manages daily schedule to achieve 25% strategic administrative time and 75% tactical sales execution time.
    • Conducts tours, answers questions for walk-in and call-in customers directing them to other sales staff members if appropriate.
    • Develops and maintains relationships with key clients in order to produce group and/or catering business for the assigned hotel.
    • Documents all sales activities into Delphi in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Provides weekly sales activities to the Director of Sales and VP of Commercial Strategy of the assigned hotel for weekly sales recap.
    • Negotiates guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines; confirms agreements in writing and forwards documents to client and affected hotel departments.
    • Conducts tours of the hotel and banquet facilities; entertains qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures.
    • Forecasts and accurately records all bookings and cancellations.
    • Spends a majority of time outside of assigned hotel conducting sales calls and sales blitzes.
    • Provides administrative support to the Sales team/office as needed.
    • Meets with Operations and Food & Beverage Staff as needed to review group resumes and banquet event orders.
    • Actively participates in various local industry networking events as needed for the assigned hotel.
    • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner; follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
    • Meets with planners after their event to discuss the success, deficiencies, etc. and to re-book future business.
    • Assists with Sales Manager and Coordinator training and onboarding opportunities when needed and available.
    • Maintains a professional image at all times through actions, appearance, and dress.
    • Completes all required Company training/compliance courses as assigned.
    • Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent in a related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience as a dedicated hotel sales leader.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Spends the majority of the time (50% or more) achieving organization objectives, often through the coordinated achievements of others. A portion of the time may be spent performing individual tasks related to those performed by others, but primary duties are supervisory or organizational-goal related. Analyzes and resolves problems, determines work techniques, monitors for regulatory compliance, maintains production, interprets and creates policies, and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Establishes goals and objectives, functions with independence, and makes decisions on matters of significant importance. Manages human, financial, and/or physical resources; proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

  • This position does not require licenses or certifications.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

This position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions, as well as knowledge and usage of correct business English and office practices. Must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with internal and external customers.

  • Advanced proficiency of Delphi FDC, ProfitSword, Cvent, Meeting Broker, The Knot, Knowland, Travelclick and Marriott/Hilton Sales Tools & Resources.
  • Computer proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Understands how to develop and implement business strategies.
  • Ability to interpret and create policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to adapt dynamically to shifting internal and external conditions.
  • Proficient in time management; the ability to effectively organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes.
  • Recognizes an emergency situation and takes appropriate action.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • 100% travel required.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
