Job Title : Design Engineer

Job Location : Mumbai, India

Job Summary :

Under supervision by Lead Designer, design heat tracing systems per customer specifications to successfully ensure customer satisfaction and Thermon profitability. Identify heat tracing requirements from customers' drawings, specifications, instructions, and Thermon quotations. Prepare heat tracing isometrics, panel board schedules, cable schedules, instrument schedules, wiring diagrams, BOMs, location plans, etc.. Use Thermon proprietary design softwares and establish guidelines and procedures to design heat tracing systems.


Responsibilities:

• Design of small to large projects or several small projects simultaneously

• Teamwork - Interact with the other designers, Project Manager, to generate isometric drawings

• Interaction with customer (internal or external) representative on technical issues

• Create and review drawings using proprietary Thermon software or methodology

• Prepare and review drawings for accuracy

• Check and approve drawings prepared by other designers

• Conduct site surveys to gather information required for heat tracing design (if necessary)

• Be familiar with and adhere to Thermon procedures and guides related to quality and project execution

• May require travelling to project site locations for field support during construction/commissioning

• May require travelling to offshore locations - Thermon offices, client/EPC/Consultant offices for short/long periods

• Adhere to company's policies, procedures, and standards

• Responsible for communicating with the lead designer, the evolving requirements on the schedule, staffing, and budget deviations upon discovery

• Ability to work in 3D modelling environments.


Competences:

• Computer literate - Advanced MS Office skills

• Working technical knowledge of electricity (Ohm's Law, voltage, amperage, circuits)

• Working technical knowledge of piping and insulation systems and components

• Working knowledge of Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), plot plans, piping drawings & isometrics etc.

• Familiar with electrical design related activities and have working knowledge of Codes and Standards that pertain to heat tracing (IEEE 515, NEC, IEC, etc.)

• Working knowledge of design software and 3D environments

• Ability and desire to learn with positive attitude, experiences, and examples of supervisors

• Foster collaboration and possess good interpersonal and communication skills


Experience:

• 1 to 5 years of design engineering, prior manufacturer, or EPC experience


Education:

• B.Tech. / B.E in Mechanical Engineering
