About the Role

ASI is seeking a Validation Manager to lead the testing and validation of autonomous robotics software and hardware systems. This role is responsible for overseeing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), System Acceptance Testing (SAT), and system integration test plans in both simulated and real-world environments.

The Validation Manager will lead validation professionals, including Field Testers and QA Engineers, while working cross-functionally with engineering, software development, and production teams to ensure products meet strict quality and reliability standards. This role requires a deep understanding of validation methodologies, hands-on test execution, and the ability to refine testing processes over time.

Job Duties

Validation Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and System Acceptance Testing (SAT) plans to validate ASI's robotic automation systems.
  • Assist with system integration test plans, ensuring validation covers hardware, software, and end-to-end system performance.
  • Oversee manual validation efforts while identifying opportunities for future automation to improve efficiency.
  • Validate onboard and offboard systems in production-like environments using Mobius and ODOA systems.

Testing & Compliance

  • Utilize industry-standard validation methodologies such as black-box testing, regression testing, stress testing, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Conduct failure analysis, identify root causes of system issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant ISO and IEC standards for robotics and automation software.
  • Maintain detailed validation documentation, including test plans, defect reports, and regulatory compliance records.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead a team of Validation Engineers, Field Testers, and QA Engineers, ensuring alignment with project goals and business unit needs.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, software, and production teams to improve validation workflows.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance on best practices in validation and system testing.
  • Act as the primary validation point of contact for internal teams; may interface with customers as needed.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Drive continuous improvement of validation processes and tools, adapting to industry advancements.
  • Identify opportunities for automation in early-phase testing to improve validation efficiency.
  • Establish best practices for ensuring reproducibility, reliability, and scalability of test processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in software or hardware validation, preferably in robotics, automation, or a related industry.
  • Experience leading validation teams or managing validation efforts in a cross-functional setting.
  • Proficiency with validation tools and methodologies, including:
  • Mobius (ASI's internal platform)
  • ODOA systems (onboard & offboard systems validation)
  • Black-box testing, regression testing, stress testing, HIL testing
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) & System Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • JIRA, Jama, or similar defect tracking tools
  • Strong understanding of manual testing with an ability to introduce automation where applicable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex technical concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Simulink, TestRail, Selenium, or similar validation and simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with robotics, industrial automation, or automotive validation processes.
  • Experience with customer-facing validation efforts (not required but a plus).
