Pay: GRADE 170 $85,549.51 - $124,046.79 Annual salary, ($41.13 - $59.64 Hourly Rate)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time, 40 Hours Weekly, Eligible for Benefits
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR
This position manages all Information Technology network security and technical aspects of the city's computer network, assists with network administration and performance, and designs, develops, implements, and maintains network solutions and systems that support city-wide organizational business functions and processes. Receives direct supervision from the Information Technology Director.
NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR - ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plan, direct, and participate in the coordination of projects relating to all aspects of the network and Infrastructure of Information Technology, including vendor software implementations, networking, telecommunications, virtual and hardware implementations.
- Manage all information technology security and work closely with the DBA and the IT Director in integrating program and database security, Data Privacy policies and Cybersecurity Policies and requirements.
- Manage the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple small, medium, and large-scale projects. Act as security liaison to other local and federal agencies.
- Perform and provide network, email, and internet usage and performance statistics.
- Provide high quality customer service using information technology case handling guidelines and other relevant city, departmental, and divisional policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a consistent friendly presence and helpful and engaging attitude; provide timely follow up to user requests.
- Create and manage disaster recovery plans and procedures.
- Minimize organizational exposure, manage scope, and mitigate risk across projects.
- Anticipate customer needs and propose alternative business solutions.
- Seek and capitalize upon opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships.
- Effectively apply appropriate project management methodologies and enforce project standards and governance.
- Create and execute project work plans and revisions as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Accurately estimate project/program resource requirements and timelines.
- Review high-level deliverables across projects.
- Identify resources needed for projects and help lead internal teams/task force; review status of team member assignments across projects and address issues as appropriate; track and report team hours and expenses.
- Prepare and implement project reviews and quality assurance procedures. Serve as key participant in project team, technical team, and customer meetings.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the city's service offerings, technical preferences, and technical direction.
- Recognize areas for internal improvement and develop plans for implementation.
- Participate in the general operational activities of the Information Technology Division.
- Interface with vendors as required; attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends, innovations, and best practice methods in the field of information technology.
- Create, comply with, and enforce all information technology networking and security standards, policies, and procedures.
- Act as backup to Customer Support and Help Desk as assigned.
- Participate in safety and risk management activities; take action to reduce liability to the city.
- Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- At least three years of increasingly responsible experience in network and security systems analysis, design, and network administration.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science and Technology, or a related field.
- An equivalent combination of the above stated work experience and education is acceptable.
