Shift: Full-Time Year Round
Evenings, weekends, holidays and special events are required based on business needs and on-call for emergencies.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly
SUMMARY
The general purpose of this job is to provide highly skilled construction project supervision and oversight of resort building construction projects within the guidelines of the Resort's environmental commitment. Safely supervise the following: framing, electrical, plumbing, inventory control, creating material lists, ordering material, and construction job site record keeping.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Construction Manager and Maintenance Manager with Resort and Lodging with construction related building/repair projects and repairs.
- Participate in long-range planning to ensure cost effective operations and leadership over projects.
- Provide leadership, training, and guidance to Technicians on building/repair projects.
- Perform remodeling projects in lodging units.
- Perform construction related tasks and repairs as needed.
- Keep work and guest areas safe and presentable while performing construction repairs and installations.
- Comply with no-idling policy.
- Educate staff on the Resort's environmental commitment to strengthen the culture in the Maintenance department.
- Comply with Safety Standards for the project and use of tools and machinery.
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly construction progress inspections.
- Efficiently and accurately prioritize and complete tasks.
- Assist other departments moving furniture, making improvements, unloading and storing supplies as business levels allow.
- Must have high-level construction skills and able to effectively perform troubleshooting and repair of the following:
- Construct and repair structural woodwork and equipment throughout the property.
- Build, repair, and install counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework and trim.
- Install glass in windows, doors and partitions.
- Proficient in finish carpentry.
- Carpenter with knowledge of Commercial Carpentry.
- Supervise up to 5 Construction Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, and/or Apprentice per project. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Complete all applicable paperwork for the above responsibilities and submit to HR in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Associates Degree in Engineering or technical field preferred; and 5+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent of 7-10 years of experience. Superior knowledge of all hand tools, power tools, HVAC, trouble shooting electrical problems, dry walling, painting, staining, framing and carpentry skills, plumbing, and building construction. Ability to read blue prints. Professional licenses are preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge of internet navigation and electronic mail. Able to use 2-way radios for communication to other maintenance staff.
- Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing as determined by Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines. Professional licenses are preferred, but not required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job.
- Must be 21 years old or older.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, explosives, risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
