Role Overview CMT Engineering Laboratories is currently seeking Construction Inspectors and Technicians to join our team in Tucson Arizona.    Key Responsibilities

        Provides project construction inspections and/or materials testing support for projects that involve construction activities for transportation, civil, and structural building projects;

        Inspectors monitor construction operations for compliance with contract provisions, drawings, and specifications;

        Technicians provide construction materials testing of soils, asphalt, concrete, masonry, structural steel, and other misc. items;

        Often includes extended hours and may include assignments on projects throughout Southern Arizona.

Role Requirements

        Certifications with ATTI, ACI, ICC, AWS, Nuclear Density Gauge;

        Proficient in construction inspections;

        Proficient in specifications and plan interpretation;

        Possess good mathematical skills;

        Experience performing independent analysis and problem solving;

        Demonstrated organizational skills;

        Strong oral and written communication skills; experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge;

        Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment;

        Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required;

        A valid driver's license is required;

        Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy. 

Preferred Qualifications

        Considerable knowledge of roadway, buildings, structure, construction methods, procedures, practices, plans, specifications; materials used and performance and safety responsibilities related to construction of transportation facilities, civil work and building construction;

        Knowledge in the use of electronic data processing equipment and contract management software;

        Knowledge of general inspection and testing principles; safety; and quality control-quality assurance principles;

        Skill in the use of nuclear density, and materials testing equipment; and

        Ability to interpret roadway, civil and/or building plans, specifications, and codes. 

Physical Demands

        Lifting of concrete cylinders, wheel barrows and other tools is necessary; Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds;

        Position may require work in adverse weather conditions, long hours, night shifts, and weekends.
