The role:
The Business Development Manager of THS (Thermon Heating System - Electric Process Heater) business line is accountable for the sales growth, and technical application of THS engineered products for process heating solutions in the Japanese region.
Focused on the generation and growth of new and existing accounts, the BDM works with the Company's internal team across multiple manufacturing plants to manage projects from quotation / front end engineering conceptualization stage to the purchase order / production stage.
Through team leadership, research, marketing, and direct sales calls, the BDM grows Thermon revenues by generating new business opportunities.
What you will do:
- Provide leadership to the Japanese sales team to set up the plan to grow the THS business in Japanese market.
- Provide Product Line leadership on the priorities for new product development (NPD), engineering, research and development, and marketing.
- Provide Business leadership in developing annual budgets, strategic initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and expanding our global sales and manufacturing footprint.
- Perform or contribute to SWAT-analysis to define Thermon strength and weakness to maintain and/or penetrate new market.
- Responsible for Account Management and Development; grow engineered and standard heating product sales across process heating industries.
- Drive sales growth to achieve sales targets
- Execute specific sales growth initiatives as determined by Senior Management
- Identify and target key decision makers to develop relationships at appropriate and varied levels across customer groups and organizations.
- Deliver and follow up on quotations to customers and potential customers.
- Participate in trade shows.
- Secure orders including, definition of delivery dates and terms, terms of payment, commercial terms and conditions, expediting orders and communicating information to customer.
- Prepare detailed and timely activity plans and schedules, activity reports, "live to air" customer visit reports and CRM reports.
- Investigate requirements to acquire new customers and expand existing market shares and/or penetrate/diversify into new market segment.
- Provide management and technical guidance of key initiatives directed towards application of the Company's process heating products with key end users and industries.
- Provide strategic advice to Senior Management on the definition and development of process heating product offerings.
- Research industry trends, needs, and opportunities.
Qualifications
- bachelor's level; Mechanical Engineering / Physics / Aerospace engineering / Process engineering / electrical engineering / chemical engineering
- 10+ years of experience in industrial process industry is preferred.
- Experience in Oil and gas, Petrochemical, or Power Generation is preferred.
- Working knowledge in the following are preferences:
- ASME / EN13445 or similar
- IEC, and ATEX
- KHK experience (must)
- HTRI, HTFS, Aspen or similar
- Experience in the following product groups is preferred: heat exchanger, reactors, air cooled coolers, gas fired heaters, or industrial electrical products, instrumentation, and controls.
And in addition, you will have:
- Good knowledge of the Energy, Power Generation and Chemical markets.
- Good negotiation & communication skills.
- Ability to create and maintain sales contacts on all levels.
- Ability to manage the sales process and interact with technical sales support.
- Attention to detail, ability to work in a team but also able to work independently.
- Responsible for quotations and pricing.
- Advanced MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) capabilities.
- Fluent in English and local language is a must. Other languages are preferred.
- Independent, self-motivated, team player.
- Able to effectively communicate on all levels, internal and external.
- Strong leadership skills.
