Accounting Specialist
The Accounting Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the controller team with general accounting and reporting responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, and general accounting transactional activity (accounts payable, accounts receivable).
What you will be doing:
The Accounting Specialist will initiate and process customer billings for projects and material sales, assist in monitoring customer collections and follow up as needed, and work with project leads to resolve any customer billing issues. They will also process vendor invoices for timely and accurate payment and work to resolve any vendor payment issues. They are expected to assist accounting staff in reconciling select general ledger accounts, prepare and post journal entries as needed, and prepare year-end closing and audits.
The Accounting Specialist will need to maintain electronic documentation for all tasks performed and assist in the preparation of reports and analyses distributed to management. Finally, the Accounting Specialist will perform other accounting duties and ad hoc tasks as assigned, provide back-up office administrative duties including backup for phone coverage and front desk (mail, etc.).
What we expect from you:
Our ideal candidate will have proven experience as an Accounting Specialist or similar role. They will have an Associates or bachelors degree in business, accounting or related field preferred. They will need to have knowledge of basic accounting principles and familiarity with accounting software. The Accounting Specialist needs to have proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word. They will need to have good attention to detail, aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills, have excellent organization, and strong verbal and written communication skills. A manufacturing background is a plus.
