Position: Rollforming Manager

Are you a skilled problem-solver with exceptional rollforming expertise? Schaeffer Industries is looking for a hands-on Rollforming Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of rollforming production lines, ensuring efficient and high-quality production of steel components by scheduling production runs, maintaining equipment, monitoring quality control and supervising a team of rollforming operators, all while meticulously satisfying product specifications and fully adhering to safety standards. This role requires experience in installing, aligning, operating, troubleshooting, and repairing rollforming machines, and ancillary equipment, tooling and dies, along with strong leadership skills, blueprint reading proficiency and excellent communication abilities.

Key Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with operating and maintaining heavy manufacturing equipment involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other systems.
  • 3+ years direct experience with operating and maintaining rollforming equipment producing steel profiles.
  • Possess a thorough and detailed understanding of all phases of the rollforming process to manufacture steel goods.
  • Experience with robotics is a plus.
  • Expertise in monitoring the performance of rollforming machines, tooling and dies for optimal production, with identification of potential manufacturing malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of the proper utilization of tooling and dies for each production run.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Ability to develop and execute production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels and machine capacity.
  • Proficiency in coordinating with other company departments such as sales, engineering and shipping to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Capability to directly perform the routine maintenance and preventative upkeep of rollforming equipment, tooling and dies.
  • Ability to identify and address quality issues, promptly initiating corrective action when necessary.
  • Regularly inspect finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Capacity to optimize material usage and continuously monitor scrap rates to minimize waste.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team while performing manufacturing tasks.
  • Ability to monitor production costs and identify areas for cost reduction.
  • High level of computer literacy, including the ability to utilize digital tools and technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey instructions, updates, and concerns effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety procedures and regulations to maintain a secure work environment.

Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Completion of a technical training program or apprenticeship in trades such as electrician, mechanic, welder, Fanuc Robots or automation / motion controls is a plus.
