About the Role

We are hiring Electrical Engineers at Levels I through V to join our hardware engineering team in Mendon, Utah. These roles are responsible for the design, integration, and validation of low-voltage electrical systems for autonomous vehicles. Unlike traditional circuit board design roles, this position emphasizes component selection, wire harness design, system integration, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to build robust automation solutions. Candidates will be placed into a level based on experience and skillset.

Engineers in this role contribute to a dynamic and growing team where hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, vehicle field testing, and collaboration with mechanical and embedded software teams are key to project success.

Job Duties

Common Responsibilities Across All Levels

  • Design, select, and integrate electrical components for low-voltage vehicle systems.
  • Create and maintain detailed wire harness designs using tools such as Zuken.
  • Perform hardware testing using diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and various CAN communication tools.
  • Collaborate with embedded software and mechanical engineering teams to ensure successful integration.
  • Conduct validation using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems and support field deployments.
  • Document your work in alignment with version control processes (e.g., Git, EPDM).
  • Adhere to safety and compliance requirements, contributing to reviews and design validations.

Level I

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Assist in component selection and wire harness layouts with supervision.
  • Execute testing procedures and log results under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participate in HIL validation and field tests with limited autonomy.

Level II

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Independently support small integration efforts and sub-system validation.
  • Take ownership of documentation for components and test results.
  • Participate actively in cross-functional team meetings.

Level III

  • 4-7 years of experience.
  • Lead integration for assigned subsystems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and review their work.
  • Work closely with vendors and purchasing to evaluate and procure components.
  • Proactively identify issues in integration and field performance.

Level IV

  • 7-10 years of experience.
  • Lead large-scale integration projects and validation efforts.
  • Provide technical direction in electrical design reviews.
  • Drive improvements in test methodologies and HIL processes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in low-voltage systems, field testing, or harness design.

Level V

  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Define best practices for system-level integration and test strategy.
  • Support system architecture design and guide requirements development.
  • Represent electrical engineering in cross-departmental strategy and planning sessions.
  • Train and coach engineers across all levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred for senior levels).
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage vehicle systems (typically under 60V).
  • Experience with tools such as Altium Designer, Zuken, CAN tools, and HIL testing environments.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, basic firmware (C), and version control (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% depending on the level and project needs.

Benefits

ASI offers a rich benefit package including:

  • 401k with employer match
  • Generous HSA contribution
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan
