Position: Maintenance Tech I
Department: Maintenance/Facilities
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Manager
Location: Homestead Resort


Job Summary:
The Maintenance Tech I at Homestead Resort is an entry-level role responsible for performing hands-on maintenance tasks to ensure all resort facilities, equipment, and amenities operate efficiently. This position focuses on addressing immediate maintenance needs, supporting preventive maintenance programs, and collaborating with the maintenance team to uphold safety, functionality, and guest satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Routine & Preventive Maintenance:

    • Assist in performing routine repairs and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.

    • Support senior technicians in troubleshooting and resolving equipment malfunctions.

  2. Guest & Department Support:

    • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and other departments (e.g., room repairs, appliance fixes).

    • Communicate courteously with guests to resolve issues and ensure minimal disruption to their experience.

  3. Safety & Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and local/federal regulations.

    • Participate in safety inspections and assist in implementing corrective actions.

  4. Inventory & Documentation:

    • Help maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and spare parts.

    • Document completed tasks, repairs, and inspections in maintenance logs.

  5. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the maintenance team and other departments (e.g., Housekeeping, Front Desk) to prioritize tasks.

    • Report complex issues to supervisors for guidance.


Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Vocational training or certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or general maintenance preferred.

  • Experience:

    • 1-2 years of hands-on maintenance experience; hospitality/resort experience is a plus.

    • No supervisory experience required (this is an individual contributor role).

  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Basic technical knowledge of building systems (e.g., plumbing, electrical).

    • Ability to use hand/power tools and diagnostic equipment.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    • Effective communication skills for interacting with team members and guests.

    • Willingness to learn maintenance software (e.g., CMMS).


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in outdoor or confined spaces.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency on-call shifts as needed.
