PART- TIME BOXING INSTRUCTOR
DEPARTMENT: Public Services
DIVISION: Recreation
RATE OF PAY: $15.00 - $20.00 Hourly
WORK HOURS: This is a part-time position, two days a week from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
POSITION SUMMARY
Ogden City Recreation Boxing Instructor works directly with youth from diverse backgrounds to instruct and train all participants on boxing rules, regulations, and safety procedures. Employees will act as a positive role model providing positive leadership and establish a structured program to teach and encourage all boxing participants the proper correct fundamentals of boxing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Enforcing rules and policies; ensure safety and security of recreation participants and facility.
- Acts as an ambassador for community engagement, leadership, and collaboration.
- Teaching fun, safe, and highly motivating classes/tracking student progress attendance.
- Answer inquiries and provide information to the public.
- Perform general maintenance/assist with training set-up and take down.
- General upkeep of all City provided equipment & facilities.
- Ability and willingness to complete First Aid & CPR certification.
- Ability and willingness to complete Boxing Coach certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, and the public.
- Handling any situations on-site that may arise such as protests, official no-shows, rule questions, inclement weather, emergencies, incidents, etc.; other duties assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- Experience working with youth; coaching and/or mentoring. 1 year experience preferred.
- Must be 21 or older.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors with a variety of conditions, including excessive temperatures and inclement weather. Standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Lifting, moving, dragging, pushing, punching, kicking, and carrying of heavy objects; up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted.
CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK
Successful applicant must pass background check.
DRIVER LICENSE REPORT (MVR):
The Driver License Report (MVR) will be obtained by Human Resources Division if applicable.
