Family Educator

Kids On The Move, Inc. (KOTM) is a nonprofit organization located in Orem, UT. KOTM supports the development of young children and families by "empowering families, one child at a time." KOTM provides services through five main programs: Early Intervention, Early Head Start, Child Care, Respite Care and KOTM's Autism Center.

Kids on The Move is seeking a Family Educator to engage parents in sustained positive, age appropriate play interactions with their children. The Family Educator must have a good understanding of typical development in children ages birth-to-3 years in all areas of development. The Family Educator must be able to identify atypical development and risk factors ("red flags") in both infants and toddlers.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure complete and accurate evaluation and assessment of child developmental status
  • Focus on the child's development
  • Promote healthy family functioning and self-sufficiency
  • Update team members on child and family status th
  • Schedule, plan, and conduct weekly home visits
  • Refer families to appropriate services at KOTM and in the community.
  • Promote parent/male involvement in program activities and governance
  • At least once a month during home visits focus on child development, health, safety, and nutrition
  • Facilitate parent child interactions at socializations (Playgroup)
  • Parents As Teachers (PAT) Certified within the first 90 days.
  • Produce Home-Visit Reports every month for review

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood or a closely related filed
  • Some experience in an early childhood setting
  • Continuous CPR, First Aid, and Food Handlers certifications
  • Must have valid driver license and verification of Auto insurance compliant with Utah state requirements
  • 2+ years' experience in an early childhood setting preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
