Job Title: TREE ROOM HOST

Department: F&B

Reports To: Tree Room Manager/Supervisor

Rate of Pay: $13.00/Hour + tips

Shift: Part-Time, Year Round Position

Monday through Sunday

Variable shifts; must be flexible

MUST BE AVAILABLE WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS

4:00 PM to Close (approximately 10:00 PM)


SUMMARY

Greet and interact with guests as part of a service team to create a memorable experience for the guest by exhibiting remarkable personal skills and providing exceptional service in a upscale and professional environment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Warmly greets each Tree Room guest.

Exhibits exceptional guest service skills to create a positive Sundance Experience for each guest and fulfill Forbes 4 star standards.

Exhibits job and product knowledge sufficient to provide guests with accurate information in all aspects of food, wine, service, and resort information.

Shares the Sundance story of land preservation and environmental commitment as the occasion arises.

Exhibits proper phone etiquette answering all incoming calls.

Returns phone messages in a timely manner.

Assists guests in making reservations for the Tree Room collecting all pertinent guest information and recording in reservation system.

Confirms reservations for large parties or during high volume events.

Organizes restaurant reservations for the evening under the direction of the Tree Room Manager.

Informs service team of special requests for reservations.

Records the number of guests served by each service team.

Assists in the setting of the dining room, clearing and resetting tables, and refilling water glasses as directed by management.

Assists service staff in delivering alcoholic beverages if 21 years of age or older and TIPS/SIPS certified.

Assists in monitoring that proper sequence of service is completed for all guests.

Displays knowledge and compliance with Utah liquor laws.

Ensures that the restaurant is clean and organized at all times.

Supports the recycling program.

Completes cleaning and closing responsibilities as directed by management.

Exhibits self-confidence to the degree necessary to handle a variety of situations in a positive and professional manner.

Exhibits a positive attitude when speaking about guests, fellow employees, and management.

Communicates well with Manager, Chef, team, and guest.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Support and participate in environmental programs associated with position, for example: minimize waste, recycle, conserve energy, purchase and use sustainable products, educate co-workers/guests on environmental ethic, support vendors with similar environmental ethic, decrease pollution levels, minimize the use of toxic chemicals, restore wild life habitats, and carpool with co-workers to minimize carbon emissions. All employees are invited to participate in environmental or Sundance Preserve sponsored events.


DRESS CODE

Sundance recognizes the impact that our image has on the guest's impression of the resort and the perception of our ability to provide professional service to our clientele. As representatives of Sundance all employees including mangers are expected to be in compliance with the Dress Code determined for his/her department as defined in the job description or follow the standards below.


In order to best promote a positive, professional image that meets Sundance guest's expectations, employees are required to dress in a professional, conservative fashion that is appropriate for their area. Please use the following as a minimum standard:


All aspects of the Personal Appearance policy (SPL#50) must be in compliance.

Employees are required to wear nametags at all times while on duty.

Clothing must be unwrinkled, clean, and in good condition (no rips, tears, or frays regardless of whether accidental or fashionably placed).

Blue jeans are permitted.

Men's shirts must be tucked in.

Appropriate skirt length is from the knee to the ankle.

A tailored fit is required of all clothing.

Tank tops, halter tops tube tops, and spaghetti straps are prohibited.

Sleeveless shirts are permitted for females.

Bare midriffs are prohibited.

Proper footwear for your department is required.

Dress sandals are permitted for females.

Flip flops are prohibited in all areas.

Tennis shoes are prohibited unless there is a business need (ie: Mtn. Ops.)

Fashion sneakers are allowed within department approved parameters.

No large jewelry.

Hair must be clean and combed. Long hair must be worn off the face.

Clean shaven or trimmed beard for men, no stubble.

Pants/shirts must be free of stains, frays or holes.

Pants/shirts must be clean and pressed.

Employees must be showered with clean teeth, fresh breath, clean hands and nails.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED. Two years related restaurant experience and/or training.

Possesses professional demeanor and good communication skills.

Must exhibit high personal cleanliness standards.


EXPERIENCE DESIRED

Two years food service experience in a full service restaurant.

Prior guest relations experience.

Knowledge and experience in wine, liquors, and beer.

Proficiency in Resy reservation software/ ability to learn.


TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

Computer proficiency in Windows, Word, Word Perfect, Excel, and other related programs.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have or obtain a current food handlers permit within 30 days of employment.

Must have or obtain current alcohol serving permit within 30 days of employment.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years of age or older.
