Legacy Park Event Coordinator/Fair Specialist

for the

Washington County Tourism Office

 

FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS

$23.01-24.61/ per hour DOE / 40 hours

Performs a variety of administrative support and technical duties as needed to promote and plan for events at Legacy Park and associated facilities.  Provides marketing, graphic design and communication/development support to the overall Tourism Department. Responsible for planning and carrying out all activities related to the Washington County Fair. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Coordinates and communicates promotional efforts with Tourism Marketing and Operations Teams to ensure efficient use of resources, coordinated branding/messaging, and event communication.

Helps coordinate destination improvement projects for Washington County facilities.

 

Assists with event planning by reserving and procuring special items and facilities.  Coordinates with

Washington County Facility crews to ensure venues are properly configured for each event.

 

Works with individuals, groups, and businesses in planning activities and events for the Fair and other events.  Determines space, equipment and labor requirements through contact with exhibitors, vendors and contractors.  Responsible for contracts, invoices, fee collection, ensure insurance compliance, recruits and develops layout and schedules for commercial vendors, contractors, entertainment and attractions for events.

 

Attends Fair Board and acts as liaison for Board and Staff.  May represent Washington County at local, regional, state and national Fair or event organization and associations.

Assist in coordinating marketing, advertisements and social media for all aspects of the Washington County Fair and other special events. 

 

Manage and coordinate all fair elements, including, but not limited to: Jr. Livestock, 4-H, exhibits, entries, contests, volunteers, entertainment, judges, etc.  Responsible for compliance of health, fire code and safety regulations for events.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduation from high school; plus, two (2) years of specialized training provided through professional seminars, workshops, or college with course background in marketing, communications, tourism, event planning, or related field, or an Associate Degree;

AND

  1. Two (2) years of experience in an office environment with experience in tourism, marketing, fair coordination, and event planning;

                                             OR

  1. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
