About the Role

We are hiring a Head of UX/UI to define, lead, and scale ASI's user experience design strategy across all product lines. This position will serve as a cross-functional design leader working closely with software engineering, product management, and executive leadership.

This role will begin as approximately 70% strategic and 30% hands-on, evolving toward a more strategic leadership role over time. The Head of UX/UI will lead the design direction of Mobius, ASI's command-and-control platform, ensuring consistent, intuitive user experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile interfaces. You will be responsible for developing scalable design systems, shaping cross-platform style guides, initiating customer usability clinics, and building a design culture rooted in research and data.

This position requires deep expertise in both strategic leadership and design execution for complex software systems - not static websites. Ideal candidates will have led teams that designed applications used by hundreds of thousands of users, and are comfortable building or evolving a design team to meet ASI's product goals in construction, mining, logistics, and more.

Job Duties

Design Strategy & Leadership

• Own the UX/UI strategy across all ASI software products, including Mobius.
• Define long-term design goals aligned with ASI's multi-industry roadmap.
• Develop a consistent style guide and design system across desktop, iOS, and Android platforms.
• Identify opportunities for scalable, cross-platform design improvements.
• Lead usability research including internal testing and external customer clinics.

Team Development

• Build and scale the UX/UI team from the ground up or optimize existing teams.
• Mentor, train, and develop designers of all levels.
• Promote a collaborative design culture across engineering and product teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers to understand user needs.
• Ensure all designs align with technical feasibility, user expectations, and business outcomes.
• Lead UX efforts in Agile development cycles.
• Advocate for research-driven design thinking throughout the product lifecycle.

Design Execution

• Collaborate on hands-on work including wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Oversee design implementation using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and XAML.
• Ensure effective handoff and collaboration between UX/UI and front-end development teams.
• Prioritize and guide improvements for real-time, data-intensive user interfaces.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design.
• Experience designing enterprise-level or real-time applications across platforms (desktop, mobile, tablet).
• Proven leadership building and mentoring design teams.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating cross-platform UI/UX strategy and execution.
• Mastery of tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and prototyping platforms.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript - Angular preferred).
• Experience designing for complex systems and products used by hundreds of thousands of users.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing mobile-first or rugged-device-friendly interfaces.
• Background working in industries like automation, robotics, construction, or logistics.
• Familiarity with XAML-based UI systems.
• Knowledge of user research frameworks and usability testing practices.

Travel Requirements

• Up to 10% travel for user research, collaboration, and product testing.
